THE UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT COLLEGE OF MEDICINE
Scott Martin and Eastern Mountain Construction recently put a new roof on my home in Underhill, and I can't say enough good things about them. It was a somewhat difficult job as the house is a bow cape and my previous roof was cedar shake made with traditional construction. The old roof had deteriorated to the point of having holes and shingles coming off in the wind which is severe where I live. Scott was at my house within a couple of days of our first conversation. He examined the roof and e-mailed me pictures which showed me that the damage was worse than I thought. He quickly provided a written estimate which included two scenarios; replacing my roof with the original cedar and also replacing it with architectural shingle. We then spoke at length about the benefits and costs of both types of roof. He answered all my questions and provided all the detail I wanted about each choice. I decided on architectural shingle primarily due to cost, but also because it is more wind resistant. He was very communicative through all the phases of construction and he described exactly how they would do the job and the materials they would use. The teardown of the cedar roof is laborious and messy, but they were efficient and very neat. They cleaned up on a daily basis and ultimately left not a trace. I would highly recommend Scott and his excellent crew for any roofing job no matter how difficult. They are efficient, courteous, professional, and easy to work with. I will use them for any roofing needs I have in the future.
